Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi
Model: Standard Assure Lock 2: YRD410/420 keyed, YRD430/450 key-free; Wi-Fi Smart Module or compatible Connect Bridge configuration
Assure Lock 2 needs an exact Standard SKU and Wi-Fi-module or bridge choice; Touch and Plus have different features. The shop displays Standard touchscreen Wi-Fi at $279.99, but selected and static SKU details conflict. Yale also reports temporary Yale Access codes ending early, with firmware and existing-code adjustments required; a manual native Airbnb fallback can apply when local updating is unavailable.

About Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi
This profile covers the Standard Assure Lock 2 family sold for US/Canada use. Keyed YRD410/420 and key-free YRD430/450 differ in backup entry. Remote control requires a compatible Wi-Fi module or Connect Bridge; Bluetooth-only operation is nearby. Touch fingerprint and Plus Apple Home Key features belong to separate variants. The temporary-code notice below is material to automated guest entry.
Temporary-code notice and manual fallback
Yale’s Assure Lock 2 notice reports that temporary codes managed through Yale Access may stop before their scheduled end. Its documented remedy checks lock firmware 1.3.16, updates older firmware locally over Bluetooth, and adjusts existing temporary-code end times by one minute. This notice concerns Assure Lock 2 YRD410/420/430/450 and temporary codes managed in Yale Access, not every PMS or lock. Older firmware updating requires an owner within Bluetooth range; existing codes also require the documented adjustment. When local updating is unavailable, Yale advises temporarily disconnecting its native Airbnb integration, removing temporary reservation codes and using manually created Always codes before check-in, deleted after checkout, until updated. Always codes are not time-limited. This is a vendor remedy, not proof all failures are resolved.
Wi-Fi module, firmware and reconnection
The newer module FAQ section supports 5 GHz for Assure Lock 2, Touch and Plus with a Wi-Fi Smart Module, module firmware 1.0.32 or later and Yale Access app 24.25.0 or later. Connect Bridge and non-Wi-Fi modules are excluded. Older sections and the shop still say 2.4 GHz only. The newer 5 GHz statement is restricted to the named module, models, firmware and app versions; it does not promise better real-world reliability.
Yale requires a correctly installed Wi-Fi Smart Module. Its firmware attempts to reconnect after network recovery; reboot and support steps are provided when reconnection fails. Attempted reconnection does not guarantee uptime; a failed recovery can require local battery reboot or support.
Battery replacement and emergency entry
Assure Lock 2 uses four AA batteries. Keyed YRD410/420 have mechanical-key fallback; key-free YRD430/450 support temporary 9 V power to enter a valid code. The source contains malformed door-thickness text and different battery estimates elsewhere. Exact numeric door fit and universal battery life remain unverified; 9 V provides temporary power, not charging.
The Assure Lock 2 YRD4X0 battery cover slides up for replacement, unlike the documented cover procedures for older Assure families. Older Assure families have different cover procedures; the YRD4X0 instructions are model-specific.
Yale describes remote control through the Assure Lock 2 Wi-Fi module without a bridge and nearby Bluetooth operation when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Its Wi-Fi FAQ estimates up to three months of battery life, depending on usage, door friction and network conditions. The vendor estimate is conditional and is not measured testing. Other family documents quote different battery estimates; configuration matters. Bluetooth fallback requires proximity and a powered usable lock.
US/Canada app and model compatibility
Yale Access app is for compatible products sold in US/Canada; remote control needs a Wi-Fi module or Connect Bridge. Only compatible US/Canada products are covered. Bluetooth-only control is local; Yale Home and other global SKUs are separate.
Yale Access supports Assure Lock 2 YRD4X0 and listed August products bought in the US and Canada. Shared app support does not establish every PMS connection. App compatibility establishes neither a separate August hardware recommendation nor every PMS connection.
Connections and setup
Native Airbnb eligibility
Eligible US/Canada hosts can connect one compatible lock per listing; supported models include Encode and Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi; reservation codes require current firmware and Wi-Fi setup. Eligible US/Canada hosts can use one compatible lock per listing. Direct native Airbnb setup is separate from PMS-mediated sharing and needs current firmware, connectivity and a backup entry route.
Yale distinguishes vacation-host Connect Bridge bundles from Assure Lock 2 with a Wi-Fi module. Direct Airbnb integration is available for compatible locks in the US and Canada; this shop currently ships to US locations. A Connect Bridge bundle and direct Wi-Fi module are different configurations. Their prices and battery estimates are not interchangeable.
Previously issued and backup codes
A previously stored guest code retains its activation/expiry when a usable lock is offline; backup codes do not expire until deleted after the trip when connectivity returns. Backup codes require a powered usable lock and remain non-expiring until removed. Dead batteries or broken keypads require a separate entry method; PMS backup workflows can differ.

Common questions
Does updating firmware alone address the temporary-code notice?
Yale’s Assure Lock 2 notice reports that temporary codes managed through Yale Access may stop before their scheduled end. Does every Assure Lock 2 support 5 GHz?
The newer module FAQ section supports 5 GHz for Assure Lock 2, Touch and Plus with a Wi-Fi Smart Module, module firmware 1.0.32 or later and Yale Access app 24.25.0 or later. Connect Bridge and non-Wi-Fi modules are excluded. Older sections and the shop still say 2.4 GHz only. The newer 5 GHz statement is restricted to the named module, models, firmware and app versions; it does not promise better real-world reliability.
What happens if the batteries die?
The named keyed YRD410/420 models have mechanical-key fallback. Key-free YRD430/450 use temporary 9 V power to enter a valid code; this does not charge the lock. The shop price’s conflicting SKU details leave its exact key configuration unresolved.
